Studies and concepts

GVA develops new floating concepts for the offshore industry on a continuous basis. Concepts may be iterations of existing designs to allow for deeper water, colder climate, even better motions and harsher environment, but it may also very well be brand new products, services and solutions.

Examples of developments are the PROMS, DP Add-On, SeaLoc ballast system, Asymmetric Semi, BarBox, Ice-Breaking Semi and Flush Drill Floor designs. Normally the concepts result in patents.
Concepts resulting in projects often establish world records or world’s first designs such as the deepest floating development (Atlantis), the first floating production semi (Balmoral), the longest well drilled from floating installation (Visund), the largest deck payload and the largest steel semi (Thunder Horse) and the largest steel semi (Asgard B).
